The 90's left its mark on fashion and style. On the one hand confused trends and yelled for attention and on the other hand kept the style vibes in quiet tones with a sense of nostalgia and carefree.

While in the 80s the trend was volume, in the 90s it was a sense of nostalgia and minimal styling.

The hairstyles of the '90s have returned a few decades later to the 2020s, highlighting the carefreeness and innocence of an era that is hard to believe was 30 years ago.

So, we thought we'd share with you some '90s hairstyles that have come back in 2020!

  1. 1. Space Buns

Space buns are two buns held high on the head.

Today we see them worn in thoroughly messy or French braids at the bottom.

  1. 2. Half Up DO

Half-tied hair was a very classic hairstyle of the 90s. From casual to formal hairstyle with a tight curl and lots of gold dust hairspray, this hairstyle was very popular back then!

Today we see all the Hollywood celebrities wearing it either in straight or wavy hair, combining it with impressive winged eye makeup and shiny accessories or choker necklaces like Ariana Grande.

You can find also a tutorial on how to do Ariana Grande's half bun on our YouTube channel! Watch the video and make it yourself!

  1. 3. Highlights and tufts framing the face

Lately the two highlights in front of the face have become a very popular technique which has returned from the 90s. Back then, they used to dye two thick strands on the front part. Today, to make this style more elegant and fashionable we make the highlights more subtle usually combining it with the balayage technique

If you don’t want to dye the front tufts of your hair, but still want to achieve the framing effect, you can simply create a hairstyle which allows the two front tuft fall next to your face and catch the rest of the hair on the back.

  1. 4. Scrunches hair accessories.

Fluffy fabric hair bands in bright colours or velvety textures were the classic '90s accessory for braids, buns or half-tied hair!

They came back in style, stronger than ever in 2020!

We highly recommend it, as an accessory because it doesn't crack the hair and pulling them is a piece of cake!
