You love your curls, but for an unexplained reason they look nothing with the fascinating models in the magazines. You think your curls frizz so easily and that’s why they lack the perfect spiral shape and shine?

Your curls can look amazing too, but you compare your curls with the ones on the magazines and that’s obviously wrong.

The quality, quantity and thickness of the hair differ.

You might have thick or thin curly hair.

However, no matter the type of your curly hair, you must keep in mind that every hair need HYDRATION. In this article you will see some common mistakes you might also do that prevents you having fantastic curls.

Mistake no1

You wash your hair with the wrong product – probably commercial.

Proper Hair Day starts with the right wash. . If you select shampooing your hair with the typical commercial products that are not probably for your hair type, you better stop.

Commercial products are full of awful quality chemicals which focus mainly on creating foam rather than caring for your hair. That creates the illusion that you clean your hair properly, however you must know that especially curly hair need their natural oiliness.

Find out her why commercial products are not appropriate for hair and scalp.

Solution:

Invest in a professional shampoo and a professional conditioner both appropriate for your hair type. So simple!

In this way you will set the foundation for proper hair care.

Mistake no2

You do not use Leave-In Conditioner

As we already stated, curly hair need hydration.

Leave-In conditioner works practically as a hair treatment, as it locks moisture in your hair.

Solution:

Use a professional Leave-In conditioner apart from your regular conditioner.

Separate your wet curly hair into three parts (according to the volume of your hair) and apply Leave-In conditioner in each part. Then, using a comb or a brush spread the product to every part of your hair.In this way all your hair will be moisturized evenly.

Mistake no3

You use styling products on dry hair

This practice tends to frizz your hair. Just like Leave-In conditioner, styling products must be applied using the same technique –  in wet hair and evenly. In such way you will ‘lock’ moisture in your hair. Solution:

Solution:

Keep by your side a spray bottle with water to wet your hair while styling them.

Mistake no4

You are lazy

Curly hair need care and proper treatment.

If you are too lazy to take care of them, you will never have the curls you want.

Solution:

Follow the first three steps and do not avoid using Leave-in conditioner and styling products.

It’s really important to follow the above suggested techniques when applying products to your hair. This is when you will have the best result for your curls.

Mistake no5

You blow dry your hair wrongly

Not only that, but also you keep touching your curls while blow drying them.

Solution:

If you prefer using a diffuser to dry your hair rather than allowing your hair dry naturally, then apply the diffuser in low volume and do not move your head too much or touch your curls nor with your fingers neither the diffuser.

On the contrary, move the diffuser slowly around your hair.

Do not touch your curls until they are completely dry.

When you are fully done with blow drying then you can turn your head upside down and separate your curls with your hands by twitching slightly.

This final step is very important because with all the above steps we have managed to seal the moisture in the curls without "upsetting" them with heat and intense movements of our hands. Therefore, the curls will no longer frizz, will have a nice natural spring-like movement and will last until the next shampoo!

You can do this process once a week when you have time, and keep your styling until the next shampooing.

Extra Tip: Use silky pillowcases to keep your hair from frizzing while you sleep.

This way the styling will last and you'll wake up every day with gorgeous curls without having to do anything!

There's nothing better than the feeling of just having the perfect haircut and not being able to resist admiring yourself in the mirror or playing with the new texture of your hair!

On the flip side, a bad hair result can take away all that confidence and good mood, making you look older than you are.

Below, we're listing 12 mistakes you might make with your hair that can make you appear older.

  1. Rapunzel Syndrome: Meaning women who want their hair to be extremely long. While long hair can suit everyone uniquely, excessively long hair, especially reaching below the chest or mid-back, might make you look older. As hair tends to thin with age, keeping it excessively long can exaggerate the issue. Consider a new, shorter length that complements your face shape, like a long bob with some layers.
  2. Sticking to One Look Forever: One of the biggest mistakes is sticking to the same hairstyle for decades. Hairstyling has evolved, so should you. Fashion always comes back with a more modern touch.
  3. Wrong Hair Color: Besides the cut, the wrong hair color can also make you look older. Very dark colors tend to add years to your appearance and make white hair more noticeable. Opt for a shade that complements your skin tone and play with highlights and lowlights for depth.
  4. Using the Wrong Hair Part: The way you part your hair can significantly impact your appearance. A middle part or a strong side part doesn't suit everyone. Soft bangs or layers can be more flattering, especially if there's thinning at the front.
  5. Excessive Volume in Hairstyles: Too much volume can make your hairstyle look outdated and certainly make you appear older. A balanced amount of volume is essential, showing that your hair is healthy, but excessive volume can be associated with older trends.
  6. Straightening Hair Too Much: Extremely straight and flat hair can highlight facial features and make you look older. Aim for a balanced, natural look with a bit of texture and movement.
  7. Neglecting Hair Health: As we age, our hair needs change. Use products specifically designed for your hair type, indulge in hair treatments, and choose styling products that suit your needs.
  8. Overuse of Hair Accessories: Carefully choose hair accessories that complement your style. Avoid very vibrant colors or childish designs, and opt for accessories that blend well with your hair color.
  9. Being Obsessed with Covering Gray Hair: Embrace the natural beauty of gray hair. Talk to your stylist about enhancing it with shine or subtle highlights instead of covering it completely.
  10. Mismatched Hairstyle with Lifestyle: If your lifestyle has changed, your hairstyle should too. For instance, if you've retired from an office job and now focus on hobbies or yoga, consider a hairstyle that reflects your current activities.

Remember, these are just guidelines. The key is to feel confident and comfortable with your hairstyle, embracing the changes that come with different stages in life.

Dealing with oily hair is a common challenge for both men and women, negatively impacting daily life and psychological well-being.

Fresh and lustrous hair serves as an indicator of good self-care and a proper presentation of our image.

If you're facing oily hair issues, let us help you uncover why it might be happening and how to address it.

Causes of Oily Hair:

Oily hair results from the overactivity of sebaceous glands, producing excess sebum. In many cases, frequent washing is a major contributor to intense oiliness.

Frequent washing dehydrates the scalp, prompting it to produce more oil. Educate your scalp with fewer washes.

Other factors that may cause oily hair include:

Prevention Tips for Oily Hair:

  1. Understand the problem to take appropriate measures. Severe issues require a dermatologist's visit.
  2. Avoid excessive touching and minimize frequent brushing.
  3. Rinse your hair with lukewarm to cold water for the last 30 seconds of washing.
  4. Limit the use of styling products, especially near the roots.
  5. Avoid applying conditioner to the roots.
  6. Choose the right shampoo, conditioner, and hair mask without sulfates, parabens, and silicones. (Your hairstylist's diagnosis and recommendations will help you choose the right products.)
  7. Blow-dry after each wash, using cool air at the end.
  8. Treat your hair with salon and at-home treatments alternately. Salon treatments are personalized for specific hair challenges.

Lifestyle Changes:

Modern life rhythms and time constraints often lead to poor dietary choices and elevated stress levels. Allocate time for self-care and incorporate vegetables and fruits into your diet.

Styling Recommendation for Oily Hair:

Opt for a loose bun, either low or high, and steer clear of heavy styling products. Use a good dry shampoo and minimize frequent washing for optimal results.
